Do you know that energy bars give less energy than a banana? You also need to be aware that some of them do not give sufficient energy that your body needs during exercise. In fact, you can obtain energy from regular foods such as cheese, yogurt, crackers, smoothie, peanut butter sandwich, and cereal bars which are cheaper than energy bars. Drinking plenty of water at regular intervals during workout and eating well after a workout should be enough.
So, do energy bars for sport nutrition make any difference in your energy level and performance?
Researchers observe that the rate of food in raising the blood sugar can influence your performance. This may indicate that not all energy bars and other sport nutrition products contain the same sources of carbohydrates. Therefore, different brands of energy bars may give different results in term of performance.
According to studies, the effectiveness of solid and liquid carbohydrates in energy bars is the same. However, if you are taking solid carbohydrates which is also low in moisture, you should drink a glass of water about a half hour before exercising. If you running on a long distance, you should eat one bar at every 15 or 20 minutes to maintain your energy level.
Energy bars for sport nutrition contain no magic formula to help you excel in sports. They are great for strenuous, high-energy exercise or any heavy physical exertion since they can quickly replace energy that is used up during exercise. They do improve your energy level but your performance depends on your training.
