The main difference between the sexes is that women will more than likely lose their hair later in life and it is often attributable to thyroid problems. Globally, nearly 40 percent of women by age 60 will have experienced some form of the condition. Pregnant women are sometimes susceptible to some hair loss often lasting until after the child is born. Also surprisingly, it is not only men that suffer with hereditary baldness because in the USA, around 30 million women also suffer problem.

The best solution if you have permanent hair loss is to have it surgically restored and although a relatively new treatment has achieved considerable success. Healthy hair follicles are transplanted from one area of the scalp to an area where the hair follicles have died. Now the most common hair transplant treatment for men, it is carried out as an out-patient basis under local anesthetic. Many women are now deciding on hair transplant surgery as a method to hide scarring cause by facelifts for example.

Not everyone can afford hair transplant. There are some more tips on how to prevent hair loss. Probably you can find cheaper solutions to your hair problems.
