Nowadays there are a lot of alternative asthma treatments that is available. One particular alternative is steam inhalation. Steam inhalation utilizes the vapor of the hot water as an expectorant.

The best part about this kind of alternative treatment is that, all the necessary materials and ingredients needed required can be found easily enough. Saving the patient a lot of time and money because the equipments are readily available and the ingredients are cheap. This can easily be done. All you need is a tub or basin, a towel, and an essential oil such as eucalyptus oil for example.

This alternative asthma treatment is usually used for first aid and mild asthma attacks. This will prove very useful when one is at home and asthma starts to flare up.

To perform this treatment, the first thing to do is to get a basin or tub. Pour some hot water on it then add a few drops of an essential oil, such as the eucalyptus for example. Put a near but comfortable distance between your head and the mouth of the basin. Try to cover your head as if you are inside a tent. Make sure that the sides of the basin are well covered by the towel. This will prevent the vapor from escaping too quickly allowing you to inhale more. Breathe in the vapors deeply for about 1 to 2 minutes. If you find that the vapor is too hot for you, just raise the towel for you to bring in fresh air. Repeat the process if needed. Caution should be taken when handling the hot water so that you wont get scalded. If need be, ask for help from someone.
