Don’t Panic – Take Herbs

March 13th, 2010 · No Comments

For recurring panic attacks, doctors sometimes prescribe antidepressants or anti-anxiety medication. People even disagree with artificial pharmaceuticals and hence, they prefer other solutions. Persistently, they turn over natural herbs for panic attacks including health supplements and vitamins. One must also consult a doctor before taking any supplement. Many of the supplements discussed below are roots of plants, or vitamins. You will be able to get most of them at your local health store, for an example the General Nutrition Center, or online, on naturopathy websites.

Kava root is one of the most popular natural herbs. It is an effective and fast-acting soothe. Lowering down your breathing, kava root fights with the direct effect of panic attacks. Because the body absorbs kava root very quickly, ingesting kava root right before a panic attack may significantly reduce symptoms.   A meta-study suggested and found that kava root is more useful than placebo in relieving anxiety disorders.

St. John’s wort is considered as powerful and popular as kava root. The active ingredients of St. John’s wort, hyperborean and hyperacid, maintain the balance of neurotransmitters in your brain. By frequently ingesting St. John’s wort, you calm down your levels of serotonin, nor epinephrine, and dopamine. It averts your mood from constantly fluctuating, and guards against ruptures of emotion. Thus, this also makes great natural herbs for panic attacks.

Something simple as not enough vitamin B could be messing you up. Lack of Vitamin B-complex often leads your brain to anxiety, nervousness and panic. Vitamin B soothes the concentrations of dopamine, serotonin, acetylcholine and GABA in your brain. Intake pills of vitamin B1, B3, B5, B6, B9 and B12 for reducing your panic attacks.

Valerian root is also a nice herb for panic attacks that has been confirmed in many clinical trials to be an effectual sedative. Taking valerian for 30days can make one feel less anxious and less nervous.

When your body ingests tryptophan, it can do either of two things, either it can use the tryptophan to make some proteins or transform the tryptophan into serotonin. Serotonin is the natural herbs for panic attacks and its cure. Logically, if one ingests more tryptophan, one’s body produces more serotonin, leading to happiness and calm. How does one get more tryptophan in one’s diet? Tryptophan is found in lots of foods including turkey, milk, and fish. You can help this by changing your grocery habits.

Fewer amount of zinc in the blood have been directly related with depression and poor mental health. Conversely, zinc supplements have had beneficial effects on patients with depression. Zinc is therefore considered as one of the best supplements for curing panic attacks and depression.

Whatever natural herbs for panic attacks that you decide to take, discuss them with your doctor beforehand. If your doctor believes they will interact dangerously with your medications, his or her word is final. Furthermore, while the frequency of your panic attacks may decrease with taking supplements, do not go off your prescribed antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication.  Do consult a doctor first.
