Many folks new to working out and weight lifting routines are not aware that your muscles do not grow while you’re in the gym. Still not growing like you want to? Spend as much time focusing on your nutrition as you do working out in the gym. I guarantee you bigger and better results if you just take advantage of the post-workout window of opportunity and feed your muscles exactly what they want to grow.

The first thing you have to realize is that muscle growth does not take place while you’re working out. What you’re actually doing when you push and pull weights is stratching and tearing the muscles underneath your skin. That’s why you get a pump when you’re really hitting your muscles hard… it’s your body reacting by rushing blood to the “injured” muscles. So if you don’t grow while you’re working out in the gym when do you grow?

After you put down the last weight and you finish your last rep… that’s when your muscles start growing! You can give your msucles a chance to start growing right after your training session by just feeding them exactly want the want to start the rebuilding process.

The crucial nutrients that your body and muscles need right after a workout are carbohydrates and protein. If you’re going to consume sugar this is the best time of the day to do it. After a workout your body is starving…literally! There’s nothing left in your stomach and your body is getting ready to burn your muscles for energy since you burned all available fuel during your workout. If you want to start rebuilding your muscle and also give your body the critical nutrients it needs to survive then you want to make sure you consume three things!

Sugar or a simple carb is the first of three nutrients you need to take immediately following a workout. Your muscles are made of water and protein but protein are the “building blocks” of muscle. Since simple carbohydrates are normally broken down within 30 minutes you also want to make sure to consume some type of complex carbohydrates for long term energy. Since you only have about 30 minutes to take advantage of this “post workout window of opportunity” the best way to consume all of these nutrients is usually in the form of a protein shake. Post workout protein shakes are a dime a dozen and you’re sure to find many at your local supplement shop.

If real growth is your ultimate goal then you’ll also want to eat a solid meal within two hours of your gym session. Make sure both protein and carbohydrates are both present in your meal. For complex carbohydrates I usually recommend rice or potatoes and for protein I typically recommend any red meat, chicken or fish. Once you realize that growing bigger muscles is more then just working out in the gym and going through your current bodybuilding workout program, you’ll be on the fast track to getting huge and reaping the full benefits of your workouts. Taking advantage of the post-workout window of opportunity is step one to reaching your muscles full potential but it should have a pretty dramatic impact on your growth.

Many thousands of bodybuilders that regularly go to a gym in order to add lean body mass. They struggle for a much improved physique but all too often they do not reach their goals.

As the weeks pass by they become progressively frustrated with their absence of muscle increase.

This can be a very common problem for someone expessing a desire to improve their body shape, which is why many people stop, thinking that they are by some means unable to add body mass.

So why does this happen to so many of us and what can you do to resolve it?

From my knowledge, the people who do not make extremely good muscle mass increases in the gym make similar mistakes over and over again. Read on below to see if you are making these everyday mistakes, with answers for every problem.

1. Hardgainers choose the incorrect exercise routines to achieve their aims, often following specialized bodybuilding programs from bodybuilding magazines.

This is no use for the typical guy or girl, and in particular for beginners.

In order to increase muscle fast you must train for approximately 45 mins with weights, performing no more than 3 sets per exercise. Keep your sets at no more than 15 sets per workout visit.

It does nothing to benefit you by performing 20+ sets and devoting many hours at the gym.

2. Doing the same bodybuilding training routine month after month, even though they have not made any evident muscle gains.

To be able to build solid body mass you must change your bodybuilding program every 12 weeks maximum. Our body’s have a kind of muscle memory so it quickly gets used to the same muscle training routine you repeat each week.

You have got to shock your muscles by altering your body building workouts regularly.

3. Not having days off from weight training.

I routinely take up to 1 week off half way through every body building program.

This gives my muscles time off to recuperate and revitalize. I’ve done this for many years now and I haven’t had a serious injury while doing so..

Another benefit is that I usually see increased strength after I’ve taken a week off.

4. Weight training on successive days.

Doing body building workouts that entail using heavy weights puts a lot of pressure on your body. It can even take up to 24 hours to restore your glycogen reserves. Therefore, ensure you train no more than 2 consecutive days. You are then allowing your body will replenish itself, resulting in optimal energy reserves when you exercise at the gym.

5. You rely on muscle building supplements to make up for a bad diet.

The vast majority of bodybuilding supplements are nothing more than high priced marketing gimmicks. They drain your income of hard earned money and do zilch to build mass. Even if you spend $100 a week on body building supplements, it would make no more than 10% difference to your lean muscle mass gains.

All body building workouts should be organized around a stable dietary plan.

You must ensure that you feed your muscles with the nutrients it needs in order to produce lean body mass.

Summing Up

In order to build mass quicker than you have ever thought possible, you must ignore the usual bodybuilding methods that you have picked up in the past from well known body builders in muscle magazines.
Hardgainers in particular can adapt their muscle building programs and stop repeating the frequent mistakes I’ve mentioned above. Make these changes and should see some remarkable results!

If you’re like most of the people that buy a gym membership and do a bodybuilding workout every day like mad for the first few weeks only to drop off because you don’t see any results then listen up. The reason you didn’t see any muscle on your body, the reason you didn’t see any results isn’t because you didn’t work out hard enough, it’s not because you didn’t lift enough weight. It's not that you were'nt working out hard enough; it's just that you weren't giving your body the protein it needs to grow. Read on to discover how and when to supplement with protein to experience some huge gains that will have people in the gym looking twice at you.

The thing you have to understand about protein is this. Your muscles are made up of two things. Water and protein and your body needs and uses protein to rebuild and maintain your muscles after your gym workouts. Another common misconception out there is that your muscles grow when you workout in the gym. That’s just not true. Your muscles don't grow while you're in the gym. Quite the opposite actually. When you’re in the gym working out you’re actually breaking down and tearing your muscles. Your muscles don't grow in the gym they grow outside of it and that's where protein comes in.

Your body needs protein to rebuild your muscles after a workout. While you're working out you're breaking down, stretching and tearing your muscles and if you feed your body carbohydrates and your muscles protein then your muscles will come back bigger and stronger! The best time to drink a protein shake/supplement is right after your workout within 30 minutes of your last rep. This is the ideal time to supplement with protein and if you’re serious about adding some muscle to your body then you can’t be missing this opportunity. In the bodybuilding world the 30 minutes following a workout is known as the "post workout window of opportunity" and it's because your muscles are literally like sponges immediately following a workout. The best bodybuilding supplements have double the amount of carbohydrates over protein as ingredients. After your workout your stomach is likely on empty and consuming carbohydrates along with the protein will ensure that your body has something to burn for fuel (carbs) and also that the protein will be saved for your muscles.

Have the exact same protein/carbohydrate combo first thing in the morning to feed your muscles as soon as you wake up. You do this because you most likely didn’t wake up in the middle of the night to eat so you’re likely hungry when you wake up. In fact your body might even be feeding on your muscles and your fat for energy first thing in the morning and that's why you hit them with a protein shake first thing. To try and avoid this scenario what you can do is have a tall glass of non fat milk and a bowl of cottage cheese before you go to bed. Both contain casein protein which is slowly digested into your body making it a natural time released protein.

To summarize. Protein shake after your workout. Protein shake first thing in the morning. Milk and cottage cheese at night before you go to bed. Eating balanced meals that contain both protein and carbohydrates is essential throughout the day. Your goal should be to consume one gram of protein for every pound you weigh. Remember your muscles need protein to grow so give them plenty of protein and plenty of water. Add this to your workout plan and watch your muscle gains skyrocket.

If you’ve been working out for a while then you probably already know that there’s a lot more to adding muscle to your body then just going to the gym, pumping iron and ripping through your latest workout plan. Depending on how long you’ve been hitting the gym you may or may not know that just as important to working out and hitting the weights in the gym is rest and nutrition.

You won’t add anywhere near as much muscle as you would if you were sleeping enough and providing your body with the right nutrients it needs to grow. If you’re not sleeping at least 7-8 hours a night and if you’re not consuming at least 1 gram of protein for every pound you weigh then there’s a good chance that you’re not getting everything you can out of your workouts in the gym. And I don’t know about you but I’m not going to let a lack of sleep or a lack of sufficient protein intake nullify my bodybuilding workout.

Ok so let’s get right into three things you can do today that will absolutely skyrocket your gains if you’re not already doing them. The only thing you need to make this work is some kind of protein/carbohydrate powder mix. These tips all revolve around supplementing with carbohydrates and protein at the right times to maximize your muscle building potential.

First things first you want to pound a shake right after you workout. This one is the most critical because right after a workout your muscles are vulnerable. Your muscles are spent and your body has been wiped out of any nutrients you may have consumed earlier. You see when you workout you expend a lot of energy and basically after a hard workout your body is starving and your muscles are literally like sponges. This is the ideal time to consume protein and carbohydrates if your goal is to pack on some serious muscle.

just as important as pounding a protein, carb shake right after your workout you also want to consume a similar shake first thing in the morning. When you wake up in the morning you're waking up from an eight hour fast. FEED IT! When your body doesn’t have anything in it’s stomach to burn for energy it’ll go after your muscles and fat.

Do you want your body chewing on your hard earned muscles for energy?

Of course not so feed it first thing in the morning. Professional bodybuilders have been known to set alarms for the middle of the night so they can wake up and pound a protein shake before returning to sleep. That’s extreme but the point is that you may be losing a tiny bit of muscle at night and you want to stop that as soon as you wake up.

And then about a half hout to an hour before you hit the sack you want to consume a tall glass of milk and a bowl of cottage cheese. In the previous paragraph I talked about how the potential to lose muscle in the middle of the night while you’re sleeping is real. Well you can prevent that be drinking milk and eating cottage cheese before you go to bed. Both contain casein which is a form of protein that is slowly leaked into you system because it’s hard to digest. You’ve heard of whey protein well this is his brother casein protein and if you use it wisely you can build muscle in the middle of the night instead of losing it!

Adding muscle to your body requires the implementation of three critical steps. Miss any one of these steps and your ability to build muscle will be greatly compromised. You’re most likely already familiar with the first step which is a good old fashioned bodybuilding workout to stretch and tear your muscles but what about the rest? What else do you need to add huge muscles to your body?

Weight training or working out with weights is the one step most people are familiar with when it comes to building muscle. Through some serious weight training you tear your muscles while working out in the gym and what a lot of gym goers don’t realize is that you don’t actually build any muscle in the gym. The only thing you’re doing to your muscles in the gym is breaking them down and tearing them apart. Before we look at how we actually build the muscle, let’s look at what muscles are made of so we have a better idea of how to repair the muscles once we’ve broken them down in the gym.

Protein and water are the two primary components of your muscles. One of the most misunderstood things about bodybuilding nutrition is that the primary ingredient necessary to building or I should say rebuilding your muscles is protein. If all you want to do is maintain your current body weight then all you have to do is consume a gram of protein for every pound you weigh. If you want to add muscle, you should be consuming about 1.5 – 2 grams of protein per pound of body weight. In addition to protein obviously you need water but you also want to consume a fair amount of carbohydrates so that your body has something to burn for fuel other then the protein in your muscles and the calories you consume.

One point about carbohydrates before we move on. Consuming a combination of carbohydrates and protein is absolutely critical right after your workout and first thing in the morning. During both of these situations your body’s glucose levels are very low, if you have any glucose in your body at all, and you’re at risk of having your body eat away at your muscles for energy. You remember that protein in your muscles? Well given the choice between maintaining your muscles or survival your body wll always choose survival and eat away at your muscles! You wouldn’t want that now would you?

So make sure you consume plenty of protein and enough carbs to maintain your weight and energy levels but not too much more becuase they will pack on more fat then muscle onto your frame.

Last but certainly not least is rest. The majority of muscle growth will occur while you're sleeping and that's because your muscles need plenty of rest to grow. So make sure you’re sleeping at least 7-8 hours every night and if you’re really serious about adding muscle then you won’t expend too much energy during the day either. and if you really want to grow you'll drink a tall glass of milk and have some cottage cheese before bed. Milk and cottage cheese both contain casein which is perfect for building muscle at night.

So there you have it. As you can see adding muscle to your body is as basic as these three steps. Workout to tear the muscle. Focus on eating protein and carbohydrates to not just sustain your weight but to support some new muscle growth as well. And finally rest so you can give your muscles a chance to rebuild. Eat, train, sleep and grow.

I know, this sounds farfetched, and goes beyond normal conventional

Wisdom of your everyday fitness routine, but according to Jon Benson,

Bestselling author of Fit over 40 and the Every other day diet, he has established

a revolutionary method to not only build muscle, but save time in your daily routine.

Here’s an excerpt from his website on this exciting program:

You want more muscle, less fat and better health in less time. Everybody does. Hundreds of BS artists and con men have suckered smart people like you and me into buying all kinds of pills and potions to give it to us.

It has all been just a fantasy…until now.

What you are about to discover is not a pill or a potion. It is not a gimmick. This is not some hype to steal your hard-earned money. I couldn’t live with myself if I tried to sell lies. I have a family and a belief that demands living up to a higher standard of ethics.

The truth is I stumbled on a way to work out that is so powerful yet so brief I had to share it with the you and the rest of the world.

Here’s How I Went From Hours In The Gym
To Just Minutes In the Gym Every Week

Let me share a true story with you. Several years ago I started to notice that my entire life revolved around my workouts and eating “six meals a day”. Sure, this is my job. But come on. I have a life…and I wanted it back.

I soon discovered a connection between the training routines we read about in the magazines and trainers want to put us on…and steroids. Even worse, greedy supplement companies were just sitting back and laughing all the way to the bank as real-world trainees like you and me emptied their wallets on worthless pills and powders. “Recovery” supplements became the rage. What a scam!

I’m going to cut through the nice talk and say it straight: Many of the articles you read in magazines were written by genetic freaks and drug-abusing muscle monsters who couldn’t teach a REAL person to train if their pathetic lives depended on it. The same goes for most of the trainers I see in gyms today. And the supplement companies depend on this for their lives. The more you train, the more pills they can sell you. After all, you need all the “help” you can get in the gym.

To get more information on this exciting program go to www.affiliatesden.com/sites/58695.htm

Best Wishes in your pursuit of better fitness in less time!

Larry Griggs

Bodybuilding is an activity that people get into for a number of diverse reasons and among the main reasons wanting to build your body is the want for better health and a fit and trim appearance. However, there are also those that want to excel in bodybuilding and would thus like to enter into bodybuilding contest in order to win a title and become the best in their field of activity.

Developing Self Discipline

Bodybuilding can be used to both live healthy and stay in good shape thus enabling you to live a good life. However, participating in a bodybuilding contest is not a simple task and requires a great deal of self discipline. Contest preparation requires being emotionally as well as physically stable. You must keep a close eye on your diet and remain focused at all times.

Entering into a bodybuilding contest also means practicing hard for it, which in turn demands a great deal of self conviction and being totally in control with regard to what you eat and maintaining control over all of your other activities. It also requires conditioning your mind so that you are well prepared for what lies ahead (both the good and the bad), and thus must be in peak physical and emotional condition at all times.

For those who are nervous before competing in a bodybuilding contest, you must learn to train yourself to stay calm and cool in the face of all probabilities. It is a hard task to learn to control your emotions and you should be careful that other competitors never catch on that you may be nervous about the contest, they will take advantage of you which will ultimately cause you to defeat yourself .

You should also learn to train and condition your mind over your body. It is the mind that will be in command of your actions with the body following through instinct, and since the body is sure to react to what your mind tells it, it is thus imperative to pay close attention to your own thoughts so that they follow a desired path and lead you in the direction of the winners platform.

It is the challenger that remains confident about the body he has worked hard to shape when he is out there on the stage that is going to the lead in the bodybuilding contest. Competitors who show uncertainties and that lack the mental strength required will most certainly falter behind. It is thus up to you to keep a vigorous training regime and keep your mind fit as well.
